‘STREET CORNER MEETINGS AGAINST ADB BEGIN IN HYDERABAD’
The Peoples Forum Against ADB has begun a series of street corner meetings across Hyderabad city to inform common people about the ADB and the importance of mobilising against the upcoming ADB AGM.
On 29 April 2006 meetings will begin at 5.30pm at NAMPALLI RAILWAY STATION. The group will then move to NAMPALLI DARGAH, MEHDIPATNAM (Bus stand and Rythu Bazar) and end at TOLICHOWKI at 7pm.
The group will sing songs, paste posters, hold banners and appeal to the people of Hyderabad to join the counter events being organised by the Forum from 3-6 May 2006.
‘While the ADB officials will meet at the expensive Hyderabad Convention Centre, we will be on the streets exposing the fraud that goes on inside in the name of the poor’, said Gautam Bandhopadhya of the Nadi Ghati Morcha, a struggle group from Chattisgarh.
All street corner meetings will begin at 5.30pm and end at 7 pm. Future street corner meetings will be held on the following dates and venues:

The ADB’s urban strategy will have huge adverse impacts on the urban poor, especially hawkers. Such meetings will ensure that they will hear the message of our Forum, said M I Ali Baqri of the National Hawkers Federation and Member of the National Minimum Wages Advisory Board.
